Shure MV6 Gen 2 USB gaming mic arrives in black and white for $169
Shure introduced the MV6 USB Gaming Microphone Gen 2 on September 30, 2026. The second-generation model is aimed at PC gamers, streamers and creators, including people buying their first dedicated microphone after using a headset mic. It went on sale the same day at $169, £159 or €150 through Shure and authorised retailers, and Shure's MOTIV apps support it from launch.
More control over the built-in processing
The original MV6 relied on automatic processing built around Shure's Voice Isolation Technology. Gen 2 keeps that base but makes the main features adjustable:
- Auto Level Mode: users set how loud their voice sits and how quickly the mic reacts; a slower setting gives an even, podcast-like sound, a faster one catches sudden shouts without clipping.
- Real-Time Denoiser: a slider sets how much room noise, such as fans, keyboards or roommates, is removed.
- Equalizer: a 5-band EQ plus simple Dark, Natural and Bright tone options.
- Digital pop filtering: onboard processing that suppresses harsh plosive sounds.
- Presets: quick settings for speech, singing and instruments.
Settings are adjusted in the free MOTIV apps for desktop, tablet and phone and saved to the mic, so the sound stays the same when it moves between devices. Shure product manager T Banks said gamers are not audio engineers and should not need to be to sound good.
Hardware and compatibility
The new white version has colour-matched flocked foam, and both colours ship with a matching desktop stand and cable. The cable is now 2 metres long. The stand has an isolation base against desk bumps, and a standard 5/8-inch thread allows moving the mic to a boom arm. A 3.5mm headphone jack provides zero-latency monitoring of mic and game audio, and a tap-to-mute button has a colour-changing LED.
The MV6 Gen 2 connects over USB-C to PC, Mac and Android devices, and it is MFi certified by Apple for iPhone and iPad.
