Audiotonix to buy DPA Microphones, Wisycom and Austrian Audio

Audiotonix, the pro-audio group based in Chessington in the UK, announced on February 2, 2026, that it will acquire DPA Microphones, Wisycom and Austrian Audio. The three companies make microphones, headsets and wireless RF systems, and in recent years they had already been tied together through shared ownership.

Three brands with a common history

DPA was started in Denmark by former Brüel & Kjær staff and is known for microphones used in live sound, theater, film and installations. Wisycom develops wireless RF technology for broadcast and touring. Austrian Audio was set up in 2017 by former AKG employees and makes studio and live microphones, headphones and tools for content creators.

Their ownership changed several times before this deal:

  • December 2013: private equity firm Riverside bought DPA.
  • January 2019: Riverside sold DPA to the Italian RCF Group.
  • November 2022: Milan-based Palladio Holding took a majority stake in Wisycom.
  • May 2023: Palladio acquired DPA from RCF Group, which kept a small share.
  • June 2024: DPA and Wisycom formed a strategic alliance in the U.S.
  • January 2025: DPA announced at NAMM that it had acquired Austrian Audio.

Where they fit in Audiotonix

Over the last five years Audiotonix has assembled a large portfolio that includes Allen & Heath, Calrec, DiGiCo, DiGiGrid, Fourier Audio, Group One Limited, Harrison, JH Audio, KLANG:technologies, Slate Digital, Solid State Logic, Sonible and Sound Devices.

CEO James Gordon linked the purchase to existing work with Sound Devices, saying Wisycom fits that development technically. He described microphones as the next step closer to the performer, with DPA as the premium brand for it, and said Austrian Audio's microphone and headset experience will complement the group's current and future products. DPA CEO Kalle Hvidt Nielsen said the brands together can bring benefits to professional customers and that he expects more collaboration in new markets.
