New true crime series

Karen Read and Alan Jackson to host new Crime House series

PAVE Studios has announced Read Between the Lines, a new original series for its Crime House label. It is set to launch in early 2027 in both video and audio formats.

The weekly series is hosted by Karen Read and Alan Jackson. Its subjects are real-world cases, from local controversies to national headlines.

Each episode reconstructs events, examines investigations and prosecutions, and points to evidence and decisions that were overlooked or misunderstood. PAVE Studios describes the approach as an "inside-out" perspective. The show combines true crime, legal analysis and investigative journalism.

Two views of the justice system

Read brings the view of a woman who has been wrongly accused. Jackson is a trial lawyer with decades of experience, and his background shows how legal cases are built, where they can falter and how media attention affects proceedings.

Read said: "Alan isn't simply analysing these cases from the sideline. As one of the country's most prominent trial attorneys, he's represented high-profile clients in some of the most closely watched and scrutinised legal battles, many of which turned out to be far different from how they first appeared."

Jackson said: "When the justice system falters, lives hang in the balance. Karen has a unique firsthand perspective of our system's imperfections, understanding what it means when a legal case becomes a media narrative and the public reaches a verdict long before a courtroom does."

Max Cutler, Founder and CEO of PAVE Studios, says the combined experiences of the two hosts bring a perspective that is rarely found in the genre.

UTA Creators, which represents both hosts, brokered the deal. All Crime House series, including the new one, are available on YouTube and podcast platforms.

The announcement follows news that two other Crime House shows, Clues and Mother Knows Murder, will stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
