Global puts six more podcasts on its Plus subscription
Global has added six podcast brands to its Plus subscription. Listeners get ad-free episodes on Global Player and YouTube, and some shows add exclusive content. The new subscriptions are James O'Brien, My Therapist Ghosted Me, The Crime Agents, The Sports Agents, The Wittering Whitehalls and Vogue & Amber.
Prices are £2.99 a month or £29.99 a year for ad-free episodes, which includes a regular members' newsletter. A tier with ad-free episodes and bonus content costs £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year.
James O'Brien and The Crime Agents
One James O'Brien subscription covers ad-free Full Disclosure, James O'Brien Daily, The Whole Show and Mystery Hour. It also brings two new shows. Ask James Anything is a weekly slot where listeners put questions to him. James Reacts revisits moments from his LBC shows, including stories and conversations he had no time to explore on air. He will also write two newsletters a month for subscribers.
The Crime Agents Plus offers a monthly deep dive into landmark criminal cases. The first episode examines the Lucy Letby case, covering the investigation, the trial and wider questions for healthcare, policing and the justice system.
The six join existing Plus podcasts such as LBC's Nick Abbot – The Whole Show and the F1 podcast Up To Speed. More Global shows are due to follow.
Simon Pitts, Global's Group CEO, said the aim is to give audiences more choice to enjoy their favourite podcasts with exclusive content alongside ad-free versions. "And this is just the beginning," he said. Craig Hunter, Managing Director of Global Studios, said the show subscriptions work like a members' club, with Q&As, expert analysis and behind-the-scenes newsletters.
Podcast Plus sits within Global's Plus range. Radio Plus launched in September and removes adverts from live radio on Global's music brands, filling the breaks with songs.
