Zoom PodTrak P4next: four XLR inputs and remote guests for $179.99

Zoom has added a new model to its PodTrak line. The PodTrak P4next is a compact multitrack recorder built for podcasts and other spoken-word content recorded away from a studio. The company announced it on October 22, 2025, with a list price of $179.99. Preorders are open, and shipping is expected on December 12, 2025.

Inputs, power and guests

The recorder has four XLR inputs. Each of them can supply 48V phantom power, and the preamps reach up to +70 dB of gain. Power can come from two AA batteries or over USB, either from a mobile battery, a computer bus or an AC adapter.

Besides the four microphones, the P4next can take up to two remote guests. They connect over USB, over the TRRS input or over Bluetooth, which requires Zoom's BTA-2 adapter. In total, the unit can record five sources at the same time. Echo and feedback from callers are handled automatically by an onboard mix-minus. Four headphone outputs, each with its own volume control, let the people at the table monitor the conversation.

Processing, pads and recording

Several voice tools are built in:

  • AI noise reduction that can be trained on the spot to remove hums, buzzes and similar sounds before a take;
  • a compressor to keep levels even;
  • tone shaping with EQ and de-essing.

Four sound pads trigger intros, jingles and effects. Some sounds come preloaded, and users can add their own.

Audio is recorded at 48 kHz and 24-bit. The P4next writes a stereo mix together with separate tracks for each channel, so each voice can be edited later. Recordings go to a microSD card of up to 2 TB.

Connected over USB-C, the device also acts as a plug-and-play audio interface. It can be used for recording or streaming with Windows and Mac computers as well as iOS and Android devices. Zoom also points to phone video: connected to a smartphone, the P4next can feed its audio straight into the phone's video recording, without extra editing afterwards.
