Podcasters get new tools as a French study tracks platform switching

Podcast makers received a batch of new tools on November 3, and a French survey finds that 58% of listeners start content on one platform and finish it on another.

Recording with up to seven people

Captivate Studio is a remote recording tool that can host up to seven participants. It was among several tools Captivate announced at the end of last year. It has now entered an invite-only beta, so access is limited to invited users.

An AI agent for ad buyers and sellers

SpotsNow has released SuperAgent, which it describes as a free AI agent for podcast advertising. Users type a question in plain language and get data covering more than 59,000 active shows. The agent can also produce a full-service campaign plan by itself. It is meant for both sides of the market, sellers and buyers.

YouTube videos on Spotify

Flightcast has built a tool that moves content from YouTube to Spotify video automatically, and it is open to all YouTube creators. The company's pitch is a question: if you have a YouTube channel, why is it not on Spotify? Creators could also earn money on Spotify, but only within the platform's eligibility rules.

What French listeners do

Audion and YouGov surveyed audio habits in France. Their conclusion is that digital audio has become a mass-market medium. Fifty-eight percent of respondents started content on one platform and finished it on another. The study links that habit to the idea of "liquid content", meaning content that moves between platforms with its audience.

YouTube dominates digital audio in the country, and the morning commute is when people listen most.

Events and deadlines

Sound.Waves, the Irish podcast conference and awards, was due next week. It has been postponed to January because of a public sector strike over pay, which organizers say "affects a number of our speakers, partners and attendees". The strike is described as the largest in Ireland in twenty years.

Entries for The Ambies close on Friday.

Our view

The French figures and the Flightcast tool point the same way: listeners already move between services, and creators now have a way to follow them. What remains unclear is how much Spotify income YouTube creators will actually see, because earnings are subject to Spotify's eligibility rules.
