Nexo launches the microNXAMP4X1 amp with built-in Dante
Nexo has launched the microNXAMP4X1, an amplifier that combines speaker processing, four Class-D channels and native Dante networking in one box. It comes in versions for touring and for fixed installation.
Built to run anywhere
The mains input accepts a continuous range from 100 to 240 volts. Nexo says that lets the amp be used worldwide and run from all kinds of power generators. PFC, short for Power Factor Correction, keeps power conversion efficient. It smooths the current the amp draws and keeps it free of spikes, which limits stress on the mains network.
Four channels, up to 4000 W
Each of the four high-efficiency Class-D channels delivers 1000 W into 4 ohms. Class-D is a switching design, which is why it is common where size and heat matter. Bridging joins channels so they work together on a load. Here the channels can be bridged in series, which is the standard bridge mode for power amplifiers. They can also be joined in parallel, which supports lower output impedance. Doing both combines all four into 4000 W.
These modes are set from software and need no external adapters.
Where it sits in Nexo's line
In power rating, the microNXAMP4X1 sits between the nanoNXAMP4 and the NXAMPMk2. Nexo describes it as ideal for the P+ Series, covering both amplification and processing. The company says it helps make systems built from its point source speaker range more cost-effective in a wide variety of applications.
Dante is a way of sending digital audio over an ordinary network. Native support means the amp can join such a system directly. The release does not say how many channels it handles, so that detail is unclear.
Standby and wake-up
Power consumption in stand-by mode meets Energy Star certification requirements. The amp can wake from a network command, audio level detection or a press of a front panel button. Nexo says this lets stand-by power consumption be tailored to the needs of each use case.
Processing and control
Two multicore DSPs, inherited directly from the flagship NXAMPMk2, handle the processing. Nexo calls the result a future-proofed hardware platform, built to take new algorithms and next-generation firmware for years.
The case is a compact, durable 1U rack unit. On the front, a 1.8-inch color TFT shows level meters, the IP address and other essentials. All DSP parameters can be monitored or set up through Nexo's NeMo remote control software.
