HK Audio adds the Polar 15 Mk2 column PA with a 15-inch sub
HK Audio has added the POLAR 15 MK2 to its POLAR MK2 family of column speakers. The company announced it on October 29 from St Wendel, Germany. It is an active column PA system built around a 15-inch subwoofer in a large multiplex enclosure.
HK Audio aims it at DJs, bands, entertainers and event professionals. The sub supplies the low end, and the column handles vocals and instruments. The column is made from a low-resonance aluminium profile. A newly developed connector joins the column elements to the subwoofer and spacer. It holds them firmly, yet the parts come apart quickly for mobile use.
Mixer and inputs
The system is self-contained. A built-in four-channel mixer has two XLR/jack combo inputs that take microphone or line signals. A high-impedance input serves guitars, and an Aux channel takes DJ gear and playback devices. Phantom power can be switched on for condenser microphones.
Music streams over Bluetooth 5.0. With Bluetooth TWS, two POLAR MK2 systems can be paired for true stereo. A USB-C port keeps smartphones, tablets and battery-powered wireless microphone receivers charged.
The DSP offers Music, Voice and DJ sound modes. There is a 3-band EQ and a semi-parametric midrange EQ. Five user presets store custom settings. The delay function lets the system act as a delay line.
Handling and mounting
The subwoofer carries ergonomic HK Audio MultiGrip handles and extra grips for lifting and loading. A padded bag for the column elements and a transport cover for the sub come in the box.
An integrated M20 thread, called FlexMount, lets distance poles for compact lighting systems and other show accessories mount directly on the subwoofer. HK Audio says this can remove the need for extra stands, cut the gear to carry and speed up setup and teardown.
The POLAR 15 MK2 is available from retailers now. Registering the system at hkaudio.com extends the warranty to five years.
