Maono P1 and P2 hybrid interfaces connect to phones and PCs
Maono has launched the P Series, a range of hybrid audio interfaces for creators who record on several kinds of devices. The range has two models, the P1 and the P2. They are meant for use with laptops, smartphones, tablets, cameras and live-streaming setups. The P Series is available now, with prices starting at $120.
Shared features
Both interfaces record at 24-bit and 192 kHz. They connect to phones and tablets through USB OTG without adapters. Stereo loopback with three channels lets users capture the microphone and the device's system audio together, for example during a stream or a game. Each model has mute controls, gain indicators and separate level controls for headphones and outputs. A 3.5 mm output sends audio to a camera.
P1 for one voice
The P1 is built for solo recording. It has:
- one microphone or line input and one instrument input;
- a single preamp with up to 70 dB of gain and equivalent input noise of -130.6 dB;
- a 3.5 mm headphone output;
- an Auto Gain function that sets recording levels automatically;
- a dedicated camera output.
Maono says the high gain suits dynamic microphones that need a lot of amplification.
P2 for two people
The P2 targets shows with two people. It has:
- two combo inputs for microphone, line or instrument;
- two preamps with up to 56 dB of gain and equivalent input noise of -129.5 dB;
- 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm headphone outputs;
- an extra USB power input for mobile or standalone use;
- routing to a camera and a mobile device at the same time.
With its two preamps, the P2 can record two sources at once. According to Maono, sending audio to a camera and a mobile device in parallel lets the system fit setups that combine video recording, live streaming and mobile production.
