Sample Logic launches Quadra, an X-Y pad multi-effects plug-in

Sample Logic has released Quadra, a multi-effects plug-in that blends between four separate effect chains with an X-Y pad. Each corner of the pad holds up to four effects, and the position of the pad sets the balance between the chains.

The plug-in has 22 effects. They cover reverb, shimmer, tape and dub delays, granular processing, spectral freeze, modal resonators, filtering, drive, wavefolding and rhythmic gating.

Motion engine

Movement on the pad can be handled four ways. Manual mode leaves it to the user's hand, Auto animates it with a looping shape, Draw records a path drawn on the pad, and Steps sequences movement across 16 steps locked to the host tempo, with swing. The X and Y morph parameters can also be automated in a DAW, and motion settings are saved and recalled as presets.

Presets and tools

Quadra ships with more than 630 factory presets. They include 150 Master Presets across 12 styles, plus separate Chain, Effect and Motion presets. A layered randomisation function builds new combinations from configurations Sample Logic tested for level consistency and clicks. Undo and Redo are built in, along with A/B compare.

The convolution effect comes with 81 impulse responses in five categories: Ambient, Rhythmic, Rooms, SFX and Short. They can be auditioned and edited inside the effect, with controls for trimming the start point and playing a response in reverse. The interface is resizable, and on macOS the plug-in supports VoiceOver.

Formats and price

Quadra comes as an AU and VST3 plug-in for macOS 11 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel, and as a VST3 plug-in for 64-bit Windows 10 or later. There is no AAX version for Pro Tools.

The introductory price is $69 instead of $99 until November 5, 2026.
