amaran Mic: a $99 wireless desktop mic with AI noise reduction

amaran, a brand known for lighting, has launched its first audio product. The amaran Mic is a desktop microphone for livestreams, podcasts and everyday videos recorded at a desk. The company presents it as a companion to its Verge desktop lighting series. The Desktop Stand Kit is on sale now for $99.

Wired or wireless

The mic plugs straight into a computer or phone over USB-C, with no sound card or extra setup needed. For a cable-free setup, a pre-paired USB-C receiver connects automatically. The wireless link uses 2.4GHz and has a claimed range of up to 50 m (164 ft) without obstructions. A USB-C to USB-A adapter is in the box, and the battery is rated for up to 60 hours.

Capsule and specifications

• 30 mm dynamic capsule with a supercardioid pattern that focuses on the voice in front and reduces sound from the sides.
• 48 kHz / 24-bit recording.
• 86 dB signal-to-noise ratio.
• Up to 130 dB SPL, with a built-in automatic limiter.

Three noise modes

amaran describes six layers of noise reduction, combining acoustic suppression, physical protection and processing. The user picks from three modes:

• Original Sound, with no processing;
• Standard Noise Reduction, for steady noise such as fans and air-conditioning hum;
• AI Noise Reduction, for unpredictable sounds such as keyboard clicks and traffic.

Modes can be switched on the mic itself, which also has controls for mic and monitor volume, mute, battery status and real-time monitoring. The amaran Desktop App adds EQ presets and custom curves, vocal enhancement, a noise gate and limiter settings.

Mounting

The microphone ships with a removable weighted desktop stand. An optional Low-Profile Boom Arm will start shipping in Q4 2026. Both setups come in Charcoal and White.
