ADAM Audio H715 Reference is an open-back flagship at $699.99
ADAM Audio has introduced the H715 Reference, an open-back headphone that the company calls its flagship and describes as an alternative to full-range loudspeaker systems in treated rooms. The launch took place at Amsterdam Dance Event.
The sound comes from custom 150-ohm titanium-plated PEN drivers. They sit in a woven steel mesh enclosure alongside neodymium magnets, a tuned suspension system and a patent-pending ventilation design. ADAM Audio says the combination gives a highly neutral presentation suited to mixing and mastering.
Built from metal, made to be worn for hours
Metal is used throughout the body, yet the headphone is meant to stay light. It has a breathable steel grille, dual-sided connectivity and magnetically detachable earpads with memory foam cushioning. The headband uses spring steel to set the clamping force, and the earcups rotate to spread pressure around the ear. A cutout in the headband padding takes pressure off the crown of the head.
The H715 Reference lies completely flat for transport. It comes in a hardshell travel case with separate compartments for a 1.3 m coiled studio cable, a 3 m Hi-Fi cable and two sets of magnetic earpads, one soft-cloth and one faux-leather.
Software made with Sonnox
Calibration tools were developed together with Sonnox. The Headphone Utility plug-in first appeared with the closed-back H200. For the new model it gains H715-specific calibration profiles and a user-adjustable crossfeed.
The headphone also comes with ListenHub, which ADAM Audio describes as an audio analysis, comparison and virtual monitoring platform. It runs as a standalone macOS application and can host plug-ins such as the Headphone Utility. That lets H715 Reference owners apply system-wide calibration to any source.
Hi-Fi mode
For listening outside the studio, the included 3 m cable ends in a 4.4 mm Pentaconn connector for the balanced headphone outputs of high-end Hi-Fi gear. A small switch on the headphone turns on a dedicated Hi-Fi mode, which separates the common ground connection. Switching it off returns the headphone to studio use.
The product page lists 40 mm titanium-plated PEN drivers, a frequency response of 9 Hz to 40 kHz at -3 dB and a maximum sound pressure level of 113 dB at 1 kHz.
Global availability is expected in December 2026. The U.S. MAP price is $699.99.
