Shure Axient Digital 1.6 Adds Channel Linking for Large Venues

Shure has published version 1.6 of the software for its Axient Digital wireless system. Announced on October 7, 2026, the update adds two features intended for productions that spread wireless coverage across a large area, such as parade routes, stadiums, arenas, convention centers and distributed installations. It can be downloaded now through the Shure Update Utility desktop application.

Channel Linking

Channel Linking ties receiver channels together across compatible Axient Digital receivers. Supported models are the AD4Q, AD4D and ADX5D, as well as the ANX4 scalable receiver when it runs in Axient Digital mode. After channels are linked, the secondary channels automatically take over these settings from the primary channel:

  • frequency;
  • transmitter registration;
  • encryption information;
  • channel name.

Shure says this removes repeated configuration work when setting up and maintaining distributed or redundant receiver networks, and allows receivers to be placed more flexibly.

Preferred Access Point

The second feature concerns ShowLink, Shure's remote control link to transmitters. In systems with several AD610 access points, users can now tell supported transmitters which access point to use. According to Shure, this makes ShowLink behaviour more predictable in large venues and in setups with distributed antennas.

Nick Wood, Shure's associate vice president of marketing and product management, said the company continues to develop the platform based on user input to add capabilities for existing Axient Digital customers. Axient Digital systems are listed from $2,224.
