RØDE DS3: a weighted-base desktop arm for mics up to 1.5 kg

RØDE has introduced the DS3, the next generation of its desktop studio arm. It follows the DS2 and increases load capacity, adjustability and stability. The announcement was made in Sydney on August 25, 2026. RØDE presents it as an arm for current creator setups.

Payload and head

The DS3 holds up to 1.5 kg. That covers broadcast XLR microphones such as RØDE's PodMic, other large-diaphragm microphones, and cameras, lights and accessories. A ball head built into the arm allows smooth and nearly silent repositioning, so equipment can be adjusted during a recording or broadcast. A central lock fixes the angle in one movement.

Base instead of a clamp

Like the DS2, the DS3 stands on a weighted base rather than clamping to a desk edge. It can be placed anywhere on a flat surface and does not depend on having a desk edge nearby. RØDE says it does not wobble or tip. The base has been redesigned to be more stable with heavier loads while keeping a small footprint, which leaves more of the desk free for other equipment.

Each colour has its own acoustic isolation pad. RØDE says the pad is there to damp vibration and also to shape the look of the arm:

  • Classic Black uses soft-touch silicone on top of and under the base;
  • Crisp White uses natural cork on both sides.

Cables and mounting

Cable clips route XLR and USB cables along the arm and keep them out of sight, which reduces clutter on the desk. Thread adaptors in 3/8", 1/4" and 5/8" sizes come in the box, so microphones, cameras, lights and accessories can be mounted without extra parts.

Price

The DS3 costs US$109. The black version is available now and ships worldwide. The white version will follow soon.
