Nomono Studio Cloud lets podcasters set the room sound level
Nomono, a Norwegian company that makes podcast recording hardware and cloud software, has added ambience control to Nomono Studio Cloud. The feature was announced on October 21, 2026. Every Nomono Studio plan gets it at no extra cost, the Free plan included.
How it works
Recordings made with the Sound Capsule now open in Studio Cloud with the ambience on its own track. This track comes from the Capsule's Space Recorder, a dedicated ambisonic microphone with eight capsules that records the room. Creators can turn the room sound up to make listeners feel present in the space, or turn it down for a closer, studio-like result.
According to Nomono, no other podcast system captures the room on a track of its own. Other tools, it notes, use AI to separate room sound from the voice recording.
Owen Grover, general manager for the US market at Nomono, put it this way: "Now creators decide how much of that room listeners hear."
Part of per-track editing
Ambience control belongs to per-track editing, which went live on September 17. With it, creators can:
- see every track, coloured to match each speaker's Nomono microphone, with the active speaker highlighted;
- change levels with a slider or with volume points over time;
- mute a track or solo it.
Tracks stay locked to each other. They cannot be cut, trimmed or moved separately. Nomono explains that the Space Recorder also picks up the voices, so keeping tracks aligned preserves sync and sound quality.
Use with video
The company links the feature to video podcasts made with its Audio/Video Sync. After full processing, the voices may sound as if they were recorded in a studio, while the video shows a café, a stage or a home. Keeping some room sound helps the audio match the setting on screen.
