LEWITT LCT 440 PURE Stereo Pair: matched condensers with spacer
LEWITT has released the LCT 440 PURE Stereo Pair, a stereo recording kit built around two matched units of its LCT 440 PURE condenser microphone.
The microphone
The LCT 440 PURE has a zinc die-cast body with no switches, buttons or knobs: there is no pad and no low-cut filter. It is a pressure-gradient condenser with a 1-inch diaphragm made of 3-micron gold-sputtered mylar, so it needs phantom power. The pickup pattern is fixed to cardioid, and the microphone handles sources up to 140 dB SPL. LEWITT positions the model for beginners, musicians and content creators: with no switches on the body, there are no extra settings to learn before recording.
What comes in the kit
- Two matched LCT 440 PURE microphones
- Microphone holders and shockmounts
- Magnetic pop filters
- Windscreens
- A stereo microphone spacer
- A protective travel case
The spacer aligns the two diaphragms and makes it easier to move the pair closer to or further from a source. With the pair, users can set up spaced AB, ORTF or XY arrangements to record instruments, drum kits, vocal groups and ensembles.
The single LCT 440 PURE is aimed at musicians and content creators, and its looks are described as camera-friendly. Its sound is described as mix-ready. According to the release, the stereo kit keeps the same simple approach to setup as the single microphone, with no pads, filters or pattern switches to adjust on either unit.
The two microphones are supplied as a matched pair, and everything listed above is packed together in one travel case. The LCT 440 PURE Stereo Pair is already on sale, priced at just over $500.
