Boya Magic: four-in-one wireless mic with two AI noise modes

Boya markets the Magic as the first AI-powered wireless microphone system that changes form. One kit covers four roles: a clip-on lavalier, a handheld, a desktop mic for podcasts and calls, and a mic for a camera or phone. A recent hands-on test focused on how its built-in AI noise cancellation handles wind and traffic.

What is in the kit

Each bundle contains two mini transmitters and a charging case. The case also works as a handheld microphone, and windshields are included for that setup. Placed on a table and plugged into a computer, the same case captures 360-degree sound for podcast recording.

  • Transmitter weight: 7 grams, attached with a built-in clip or a magnetic mount.
  • Receivers: USB-C or Lightning for phones, depending on the bundle.
  • Recording: 48 kHz / 24-bit, 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
  • Range: up to 100 metres (328 feet) in ideal conditions, according to Boya.
  • Battery: up to six hours per mini mic, about 30 hours in total with the charging case.

AI noise cancellation

Boya says its noise model was trained on more than 700,000 noise samples. The Magic offers two levels:

  • light suppression of about 15 dB;
  • strong suppression of up to 40 dB.

Either mode can be switched on the device itself or in the companion app. In the test, the reviewer recorded in gusty wind where a phone's built-in mic was overwhelmed. With the AI modes active, he reported that wind and traffic were strongly reduced while his voice did not sound processed. Boya did not answer the reviewer's questions about the AI features before publication.

Price

Bundles range from $89.99 to $144.99, depending on which receivers are included. For quiet recording spaces, the reviewer pointed to Boya's simpler mini 2, which sells for around $40.
