Universal Audio launches six Volt Gen 2 and Volt Max interfaces

Universal Audio has expanded its Volt line of USB audio interfaces with six new models. They are split into Volt Gen 2 and Volt Max editions and are aimed at musicians, content creators and engineers who work on the move. The company announced them on October 2, 2026, and all models are available at launch.

Models and prices

The Gen 2 editions:

  • Volt 1 Gen 2: 2-in/2-out, one preamp, $149;
  • Volt 2 Gen 2: 2-in/4-out, two preamps, $219;
  • Volt 4 Gen 2: 12-in/6-out, two preamps, $299.

The Max editions:

  • Volt 2 Max: 10-in/4-out, two preamps, $299;
  • Volt 4 Max: 12-in/6-out, two preamps, $399;
  • Volt 4P Max: 12-in/6-out, four preamps, $499.

All prices are minimum advertised prices.

Common features

Every new model has 32-bit conversion and Tone Shaping Preamps. The preamps have three switchable character modes: Warmth (tube), Focus (solid state) and Shine (British Class A). Apart from the Volt 1 Gen 2, every model has a full-colour Smart Display for inputs, gain and tone settings. Auto-Gain with Clip Protection is included as well, and the inputs recognise microphone, line and instrument sources on their own.

Max processing and software

The Max models include compressor presets based on the 1176, the LA-2A and a VCA design. Processing runs in real time without added latency. Combined with the preamp modes, presets such as "Rap Vocal" or "Jangly Acoustic" give more than 18 sound options per channel.

The interfaces come with the UAD Volt Studio Bundle of 15 plug-ins, UA's Luna DAW, Celemony Melodyne Essential and three months of FL Studio Producer Edition, among other software.
