Shure MV88 USB-C stereo mic plugs straight into phones
Shure used CES Unveiled 2026 in Las Vegas on January 4 to launch the MV88 USB-C Stereo Microphone. It is a new version of the original MV88 stereo condenser mic. The main change is a USB-C plug that connects directly to Android and iOS phones and tablets.
Eduardo Valdes, Associate Vice President of Global Marketing and Product Management at Shure, said that with the new model there is no need to think about pairing, range, dropouts or battery life.
Four ways to capture sound
The microphone offers four selectable polar patterns:
- adjustable stereo;
- mono cardioid;
- mono bi-directional;
- raw mid-side.
Processing on the phone
Two automatic functions are aimed at quick recording. Auto Level Mode keeps changing the gain in real time so the signal is neither too loud nor too quiet. A real-time denoiser removes background noise. Manual level setting remains available for those who want it.
For deeper control, Shure offers five quick-start presets and a set of tools: microphone gain, five-band EQ, limiter, compression, high-pass filter and stereo width adjustment. These are available in the MOTIV Video and MOTIV Audio mobile apps and in MOTIV Mix on desktop. According to Shure, the processing is the same kind used in its MV7+ and MV6 microphones.
