Notta Memo: AI recorder pairs MEMS mics with a call pickup

Notta, which already sells a transcription app for phones, now offers a dedicated recorder. The Notta Memo is a slim, card-sized device that attaches to the back of a phone and records meetings, calls and voice memos for AI transcription. It costs $149 on Amazon.com and £139 on Amazon.co.uk.

Two kinds of microphone

The Memo carries four MEMS microphones and one bone-conduction microphone. A physical slider at the top picks the mode:

  • meeting mode uses the MEMS array to capture people talking in the same room;
  • call mode switches to the bone-conduction mic, which picks up the conversation through the phone.

A 1-inch screen next to the slider shows the active mode, and a single button starts and stops recording. In testing across a noisy classroom, a busy café and a quiet office, the reviewer reported that the recorder separated individual speakers cleanly.

Size, storage and battery

  • Dimensions: 86.1 x 55.1 x 3.5 mm.
  • Weight: 28 g.
  • Storage: 32 GB.
  • Battery: 30 hours of recording or 28 days on standby.
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The device mounts on MagSafe iPhones through an included leather magnetic case. Android users get a magnetic ring to stick on the phone. Charging uses a proprietary magnetic cable, so standard USB-C and MagSafe chargers will not work.

App and plans

Recording works offline, but transcription, translation, AI summaries, AI chat and export need registration and an internet connection. The app supports 58 languages, labels speakers, offers more than 30 summary templates and lets users ask questions about past recordings. The free Starter plan includes 300 minutes of AI transcription a month; more advanced features require a paid subscription.
