Lewitt and Elgato build the Wave FX chip for the Wave Next range
Microphone maker Lewitt and creator-gear brand Elgato have worked together on a new processor, announced in March 2026. It is called Wave FX and sits at the centre of Elgato's Wave Next range for content creators. The stated goal is studio-quality audio for creators.
What the chip does
Wave FX is a custom chip. It is designed to optimise the audio signal path inside the devices and to add signal-shaping tools that run on the hardware itself. The onboard DSP set includes:
- a high-pass filter;
- an expander;
- a vocal tuner;
- a compressor;
- EQ.
The chip also uses the intelligent limiting system from Lewitt's Connect 2 audio interface. According to the companies, it makes clipping the inputs impossible.
Software
Elgato has redesigned its Wave Link software for the new range. It now supports VST inserts. It links the Wave devices to the effects chain with low latency. The result is a single processed signal that can be sent to any application, including streaming software.
Products and availability
The Wave FX processor is used in four Elgato products:
- Wave:3 MK2;
- Wave XLR MK2;
- XLR Dock MK2;
- Wave XLR Pro.
Three of them, the Wave:3 MK2, Wave XLR MK2 and XLR Dock MK2, can already be bought. The Wave XLR Pro is due to ship in the second quarter of 2026.
Lewitt CEO Roman Perschon said the goal of Wave Next is "to combine the best of both worlds, the pro-audio and the creator audio world."
