Isovox IsoBooth: a portable isolation booth for $9,399

Isovox, an audio company from Sweden, has announced the IsoBooth. It is a portable sound isolation booth meant for homes, offices and production spaces. The company lists vocals, voiceover, content creation, live streaming, instrument practice, music recording, mixing and editing among its uses.

Size, weight and assembly

The booth measures 59 by 45 by 85 inches. With the ventilation unit on top, it is 93 inches tall. These dimensions let it fit in standard family vans and SUVs for transport, according to Isovox.

The IsoBooth weighs about 242 pounds. Isovox says this is a fraction of the weight of traditional booths. It is built from modular panels light enough for one person to carry. The company still recommends two people for comfort and estimates assembly at about 15 minutes.

Acoustic figures

Isovox gives these specifications:

• a flat frequency response within ±3.5 dB, without extra acoustic panels inside;
• an isolation rating of NIC Class 31 under ASTM E413.

The booth comes with an active ventilation system that Isovox calls "zero-noise". The company says it supplies fresh air with almost no audible sound, which addresses a common problem in isolation booths.

MixTable and price

The IsoBooth works with the Isovox MixTable, a desk with adjustable height and built-in speaker mounts. Speakers attach to it directly through threaded connectors.

The booth will launch as a package that includes the ventilation system and the MixTable. The suggested retail price is $9,399. Isovox says sales will start later in the quarter.
