Insta360 Mic Pro: E-Ink Transmitters and 32-Bit Float Recording

Insta360 has put its Mic Pro wireless microphone system on sale. It is a compact 2.4 GHz system built around round, coin-shaped transmitters. Each carries a 1.22-inch six-colour E-Ink display that can show a logo, image or other graphic uploaded through the Insta360 app.

Transmitters

Inside each transmitter is a three-microphone array with three pickup modes: supercardioid, meant for solo streams, voiceover and ASMR; figure-8, for interviews and conversations between two people; and omnidirectional for general capture. The transmitters record 32-bit float audio to 32GB of internal storage, and files can be exported over USB-C. An NPU-based AI noise cancelling chip with two modes, automatic gain control and a low-cut filter handle processing. A separately sold USB-C to 3.5mm adapter lets users connect a lavalier.

Receiver and connections

The camera-mount receiver has a cold shoe, a touchscreen and a control dial. It offers a 3.5mm TRS output, a USB-C adapter for phones and laptops, an optional Lightning adapter and timecode sync. It handles two channels on its own; a Multi-Person mode routes up to four transmitters to one receiver, but only with the separately sold Camera Adapter and compatible Sony cameras.

  • Range of up to 400 m (1,312 feet)
  • Direct Bluetooth 5.4 link to the Insta360 X5, Ace Pro 2 and GO Ultra
  • About 10 hours per transmitter and 11 hours for the receiver
  • Up to 30 hours with the charging case; five minutes of charging adds about 1.5 hours

The two-person kit costs $329.99, and a version with a single transmitter is priced at $199.99.
