Insta360 Mic Pro: e-ink screen, three capsules and NPU noise filter
Insta360 has announced and released the Mic Pro, a wireless microphone system for creators, filmmakers, podcasters and event producers. Its transmitter is larger than the company's compact Mic Air and is built around two features: a customizable e-ink display and an array of three microphones.
E-ink label on every transmitter
Each transmitter has a round 1.22-inch e-ink screen that shows six colours. It can carry a logo, a name, channel art or a performer's name, set from the smartphone app, and the image stays visible with the power off. Insta360 says it picked e-ink over OLED for lower power draw on static images and better readability in direct sunlight, which helps tell several mics apart on location.
Three capsules and AI processing
Where many small wireless mics use a single omnidirectional capsule, the Mic Pro combines three and shapes the pickup through digital signal processing:
- omnidirectional, for natural sound with the room around it;
- cardioid, for front-focused vlogs, solo streams, ASMR and narration, or shotgun-style use on a camera;
- figure-8, for two-person interviews picking up front and back.
An onboard NPU runs AI noise cancellation that targets wind, crowds and ambient noise while keeping the voice natural.
Recording and connectivity
- 32-bit float internal recording to 32GB per transmitter, with files split every 30 minutes and stereo internal recording supported.
- 4-to-1 mode for separate tracks per speaker and 2-to-4 mode for feeding several cameras.
- Direct Bluetooth link at 48 kHz to Insta360 cameras such as the X5, X4 Air, Ace Pro 2 and GO Ultra, without a receiver.
- Timecode sync with less than one frame of drift over 24 hours.
- Up to 10 hours per transmitter and 30 hours with the case; five minutes of charging gives 1.5 hours.
Prices in Japan
A single transmitter costs ¥18,500, one transmitter with a receiver ¥34,500, and a kit with two transmitters, a receiver and a charging case ¥57,000, tax included. It is sold through Insta360's store and Amazon.co.jp.
