FIFINE BM88PRO low-profile mic arm adds RGB and longer reach
FIFINE has introduced the BM88PRO, a revised version of its BM88 microphone boom arm. Like the original, it is a low-profile design: the arm runs below the top of the monitor rather than arching over the desk, so it stays out of the way of screens, lights and the camera frame. The company is aiming it at streamers, gamers, podcasters and people who record from home.
What changes from the BM88
The headline addition is built-in RGB lighting with nine modes. The lights can be switched with a touch button on the arm or adjusted in more detail through FIFINE's Genie software, so the arm can match the rest of a lit streaming setup.
The second change is reach. The BM88PRO extends to roughly 70 to 80 cm (28 to 31 inches), which FIFINE says helps on wide desks and multi-monitor setups, and the arm rotates through a full 360 degrees. The idea is that a microphone can be pulled in close during a stream and pushed aside when the desk is needed for something else.
Mounting and load
- Reinforced desk clamp with anti-slip rubber pads
- Both C-clamp and grommet mounting options
- Thread adapters for 5/8-inch, 3/8-inch and 1/4-inch screws
- Supports microphones weighing up to 4.4 lbs
- Built-in channels that hide the microphone cable
FIFINE says the 4.4 lb rating covers everything from light USB microphones up to its heavier studio-style AmpliTank models. The company also lists cable clutter, unstable mounting and arms that slowly drift out of position as the everyday problems the BM88PRO is designed to address. The announcement did not include a price or a release date.
