DPA N-Series Digital Wireless System Arrives in the U.S.

DPA Microphones has announced that its N-Series Digital Wireless Microphone System can now be ordered by customers throughout the United States. The system is also on sale in Europe. DPA positions it for live events, houses of worship, corporate events and permanently installed setups, and also points to rental companies as a target market.

Digital design and wideband tuning

N-Series was built as a fully digital system from the start. It uses true diversity reception to keep the connection stable, combines DPA's own microphone preamps with modern analog-to-digital conversion, and protects the signal with AES-256 encryption, a feature DPA highlights for corporate and government users.

The system tunes across 470 to 870 MHz, giving each unit 400 MHz of range within whatever local broadcast rules allow. DPA argues that this wideband approach lets one unit be used in different countries and protects buyers when regional frequency allocations are reshuffled.

Components and compatibility

  • A receiver plus bodypack and handheld transmitters
  • The new DPA 2024 Vocal Microphone, designed specifically for N-Series
  • DPA Audio Controller software for PC or Mac, with remote control, monitoring and a frequency analyzer covering the full bandwidth

The bodypacks have a rounded shape to sit against the body and come with either a LEMO 3-pin connector or DPA's new compact MicroLock connector. Third-party professional microphones with those connectors can also be used. Handheld transmitters use the SL1 thread, which fits most vocal cartridges, and work with DPA's 2028, d:facto 4018V and 4018VL vocal microphones as well as the 2024.

Christopher Spahr, vice president of sales and marketing at DPA Microphones North America, said the company's engineers took their expertise beyond the microphone itself to build a complete wireless system for crowded RF environments.
