DJI Mic Mini 2S Brings Internal 32-Bit Float Recording

DJI has released the Mic Mini 2S, a version of its compact wireless microphone that records audio inside the transmitter. Each transmitter has about 14.5GB of built-in storage, with no slot for external cards. That holds roughly 22 hours of 32-bit float audio or about 28 hours at 24-bit.

Four transmitters and four channels

One receiver can pair with up to four transmitters at once, and these can be any mix of Mic Mini, Mic Mini 2 and Mic Mini 2S units. The Mini 2S transmitter also works with the Mic Series Mobile Receiver. When the receiver is connected to a Sony camera through the Mic Series Camera Adapter or a 3.5mm cable, a Quadraphonic mode sends four independent audio channels to the camera.

The transmitters weigh about 12 g, use a new noise cancelling model and offer Regular, Rich and Bright voice tone presets. Through DJI OsmoAudio they connect directly, without a receiver, to the Osmo Pocket 4P, Osmo Action 6, Osmo Nano, Osmo 360 and other devices. The system also works with cameras, computers and phones via USB-C, Lightning or Bluetooth.

Kits, charging and prices

  • 2 TX + 1 RX with charging case: AUD 279
  • 1 TX + 1 RX: AUD 149
  • 2 TX + 1 RX with charging case plus Mic Series Mobile Receiver: AUD 328
  • 1 TX + 1 Mobile RX with charging case, aimed at smartphone users

The charging case refills the transmitters and receiver in about 70 minutes and takes around two hours to charge itself. DJI recommends a 5V/2A charger for the transmitters and receiver and 5V/3A for the case. The Mic Mini 2S is not sold in the United States.
