Audix Sells Novacore NCEC and NCTH Capsules for Other Handhelds

Audix announced on 5 June 2026, from its base in Wilsonville, Oregon, that two vocal capsules from its Novacore digital wireless line can now be bought on their own. The NCEC Extended Cardioid and the NCTH Tight Hypercardioid fit handheld transmitters made by other companies, using a thread design that is widely used in the industry. Both are shipping now.

The point of the move, according to Audix, is that users can try the capsules on the wireless system they already own instead of replacing it.

Two capsules, two jobs

  • NCEC Extended Cardioid – a wider, forgiving pickup pattern aimed at a natural sound.
  • NCTH Tight Hypercardioid – a narrow pattern meant for high-SPL stages, giving acoustic isolation with off-axis rejection and feedback control.

Both capsules use Audix VLM (Very Low Mass) diaphragm technology. The company says this reduces the need for corrective EQ. Each head also has internal vibration isolation to limit handling noise.

The wider Novacore platform

The two capsules are the native vocal heads of Novacore, which Audix describes as a unified and scalable wireless ecosystem. Besides the capsules it covers receivers with one, two or four channels, handheld and bodypack transmitters, wireless MicroBoom systems and software called Novacore Frequency Coordinator. It works with 24-bit digital audio, latency under 3 ms, a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range, a 48 MHz tuning range and AES-256 encryption. The two- and four-channel receivers carry Dante for sending wireless channels into audio-over-IP networks.
