Soundcore Work: Anker's $159 clip-on AI voice recorder

Anker's audio brand Soundcore has put a dedicated AI recorder on sale. Called the Soundcore Work AI Voice Recorder, it is a small round device that clips onto a shirt or collar or hangs from a necklace or lanyard. It records conversations, transcribes them and produces summaries using large language models from OpenAI. Anker aims it at professionals and students who want to capture meetings and lectures.

Hardware and recording

The recorder lives in a square charging case, and the case can stick to the back of phones with a metal back. Recordings move to the smartphone app over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi; on iOS they sync automatically in real time through Apple's MFi protocol.

• Local storage: up to 250 hours of audio.
• Battery: up to 32 hours of recording per charge, and 10 minutes of fast charging gives two hours.
• Controls: a self-locking button starts recording with one press, and a double tap marks an important moment, confirmed by haptic feedback.
• Security: AES-256 encryption for stored and transferred data, TLS 1.3 in transit and ECDH key exchange over Bluetooth, with cloud storage on AWS.
• Apple Find My support for locating a lost unit.

Transcription and AI features

Summaries are currently produced by GPT-4.1, and Anker says a move to GPT-5 is planned. The company claims English transcription accuracy of up to 97 percent. The app labels speakers, splits the text into segments and offers more than 25 summary templates. Several recordings can also be merged into a single combined summary. Soundcore has not said how many languages are supported.

Price and plans

The device costs $159 in white or black on Amazon.com and Soundcore.com. Three service tiers are offered:

• Starter: free, 300 transcription minutes, without combined summaries or the Ask AI feature.
• Pro: $15.99 a month, $69.99 for six months or $99.99 a year, with 1,200 minutes a month and the extended AI tools. New users get six months free on activation in a promotion running until March 31, 2026.
