BOYA Notra Neo: an entry-level AI note taker with auto mode switching

BOYA has launched the Notra Neo, the second product in its line of AI note takers. It does not replace the original BOYA Notra. Instead, it is a simpler and cheaper model for people buying this kind of device for the first time, such as students, professionals, creators and small teams. The Notra Neo is available worldwide through BOYA's official channels.

Recording without choosing a mode

The original Notra requires the user to switch recording modes by hand. The Neo detects the situation and switches automatically between three scenarios:

• In the room: placed on a desk, it records the conversation around it with its built-in microphones.
• Phone calls: attached magnetically to a smartphone, it records calls directly from the handset.
• Bluetooth calls: connected over Bluetooth, it captures conversations held on headsets and online communication platforms.

Microphones and hardware

The Neo uses a 2 MEMS + 1 VCS microphone setup with AI noise cancellation of up to 30 dB and a pickup range of up to 5 metres. The body measures 63 x 63 mm and weighs 34.5 g. Storage is 8 GB, the battery is rated at 610 mAh, and recordings move to other devices over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Colour options are Black, White, Pink and Yellow.

AI processing

Recordings are turned into transcripts in more than 140 languages, with automatic summaries, key-point extraction, organized notes and action items.

Neo versus Notra

BOYA keeps the original Notra as its advanced model. The main differences:

• storage: 8 GB on the Neo, 64 GB on the Notra;
• weight: 34.5 g versus 45 g;
• pickup range: 5 m versus 10 m;
• file transfer: the Notra adds USB-C to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Both models share the same 30 dB AI noise cancellation and 140+ language support.
