Sennheiser becomes Official Sound Provider of Formula E
Formula E and Sennheiser announced a multi-year partnership in London on August 10, 2026. Under the agreement Sennheiser becomes the Official Sound Provider of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The series will use Sennheiser's professional audio products and its AMBEO immersive audio technology across its global calendar.
What the partnership covers
The technical work is aimed at Formula E's broadcast and trackside operations. The two sides plan to test how audio capture and encoding workflows can give viewers a more immersive experience on any device, and to record the sound of the GEN4 cars. The deal also extends to fan zones and VIP hospitality at the events.
AMBEO is Sennheiser's ecosystem for capturing, processing and playing back three-dimensional sound. Kai Detlefsen, who manages AMBEO at Sennheiser, said it should help viewers at home feel closer to the racing and to their teams.
What the two sides said
Formula E CTO Dan Cherowbrier said technology is central to the championship and that the AMBEO ecosystem gives the championship a place to try out where the sound of racing goes next, with natural three-dimensional audio bringing fans nearer to the action. Andreas Sennheiser, CEO of the Sennheiser Group, said the company wants to bring advanced audio into real-world use and sees potential to define the sport's own acoustic character through in-car and trackside sound. He described the partnership as a chance to learn and explore.
